What is our charity service?
We assist charity trustees in negotiating the increasingly complex world of trustee responsibilities and to ensure the financial arrangements are appropriate to what your charity is trying to achieve. We understand that charities are under ever increasing pressure in these austere times and believe it has never been so important to ensure your investments do what you need them to do. The markets are volatile and cash rates deliver negative returns in real terms, so what is the solution?
We will work with you to:
Truly understand your charity's goals and aspirations create/amend the Investment Policy Statement where the goals and objectives are agreed and clearly stated.
Ensure that the obligations of the Trustee Act are satisfied. Review the appropriateness of your current investments in relation to your goals and if necessary recommend changes.
Monitor and review the structure to ensure it remains suited to your charity's goals.
Chosing the right investment manager
We are experts in understanding investment strategies and will work with you to select the right investment manager from the hundreds of styles and approaches available. Investment techniques have moved on leaps and bounds in recent years, but some traditional management styles have not kept up. We believe the true test of a manager is how they perform when things go wrong rather than how much they make in the good times. This is especially relevant for charity assets. We can recommend the right solution for you.
Regular review meetings
Ensure that Trustees & Management are updated on progress against goals and to ensure the portfolio remains suitable. Depending on your requirements, we can meet on a regular basis but recommend a review meeting at least once a year.
Questions to Ask:
Do you have an up to date and compliant statement
of investment principles?
Have you established financial goals for the investments?
How have your investments performed, particularly through the bad times in the market?
How do you measure performance against what your goals are?
What are the costs? Are these reasonable?
How has the portfolio performed against other managers in the sector?
What are the levels of risk and how are these measured?
